Meeting with the director and actress of ‘La Diversa’
With the 10th anniversary of the death of Alda Merini, comes the premier of La Diversa, a piece created by Italian director Moreno Bernardi, from the poems of Alda Merini, a writer and poet considered one of the clearest, most profound voices in twentieth-century Italian poetry.
On April 5, 6 and 7, Teatre Akadèmia will host Bernardi’s La Diversa, a soliloquy that guides us through the solitude of a visionary woman who spent nearly 20 years confined to a psychiatric hospital, where she received some 37 electric shocks. The piece forms part of one of the artistic labs of Lo Spazio, a centre for thinking and research run by Bernardi.
Prior to the premier of La Diversa, a meeting with director Bernardi and actress Laia Casals has been organized. The session is aimed at bringing Alda Merini’s work and Moreno Bernardi’s personal vision closer to students interested in discovering and learning about the work of one the most relevant writers in the world of literature.
The activity will take place on Tuesday, April 2 from 6 to 8 pm at Teatre Akadèmia. At the meeting, students will be present for a rehearsal of La Diversa and a master class by Moreno Bernardi. During the first part of the activity, students will watch a rehearsal of the work and discover first-hand the creative and stage process that Moreno Bernardi and Laia Casals follow in La Diversa. Afterwards, both the director and actress will participate in a talk about their vision for Merini’s work, how La Diversa was born, how the piece has evolved and what they hope to transmit through the work.
Free admission, subject to room capacity. Attendance must be confirmed via email to firstname.lastname@example.org, indicating the attendee’s full name and education centre by 12 pm on 2 April.
