By Moreno Bernardi (with the words of Bernard-Marie Koltès: "La nuit juste avant les forêts") Directed live by Moreno Bernardi
– composition for two voices in three movements –
In the search for the sound of words, composing between timbres and rhythms, between pauses and peaks, Bernardi proposes this text by Koltès as a piece of theatre destined to be heard in its purest acoustic form. The two performers, guided live by the Italian director, sing and writhe about to free themselves from the stories they carry on their shoulders. Stories from under bridges, from the eyes of prostitutes, stories of that feeling of not having anything to hold on to, of not belonging to the world around them. They are unburdened, lost, buts tremendously lucid in their “song” leading up to the encounter. Two strangers’ voices and one discourse that unfolds into two languages. A piece that finds in voice the light that makes us so similar to each other while exposing us as strange, foreign.
The text La nuit juste avant les forêts by a young Bernard-Marie Koltès (1976) is one of his most popular texts, thanks to the freedom with which it can be read: from a political pamphlet to a urban poem, from violence to an authentic search for love.
The year 2020 will see its 43rd birthday, yet it is as current as ever.
