Synopsis

Inspired by Caro Maestro, a tribute to theatre director Giorgio Strehler, which premiered in the 17–18 season, we are proud to present Maestro Fellini, a piece that marks one hundred years since the birth of one of the most extraordinary personalities in Italian and international cinema. Maestro Fellini immerses us in a journey through the world of the Italian director, where through interviews, letters, writing and director’s notes that reveal and evoke a leading figure in the Italian and universal artistic world, we are presented with an ode to the director in the form of a two-person reading, illustrated with images of his projects and rehearsals with actors. We will also hear from friends and artists who entered his world at some point or another, such as: Alberto Sordi, Giulietta Masina, Marcello Mastroianni, Anita Ekberg, Sandra Milo, Nino Rota, Roberto Rossellini, Anna Magnani, Bernardo Bertolucci, Luchino Visconti and Roberto Benigni.

Maestro Fellini has been translated into three different languages. The first version, in Italian, written by Ivano Marescotti, was performed at Rome’s Teatro Quirino in 2008, as well as at the MAAM, Mosca, in 2011. The second was performed at the IIC in Paris in 2009, with Gerard Watkins as the protagonist, then finally, a version in English with Diane Lane and Edward Norton was put on at NYC’s Signature Theatre in 2013. Barcelona and TAK are now getting on board with this exclusive tribute to the director.
