Les oblidades (Teatre Akadèmia Award)
By Lara Díez Director Lara Díez
'Les oblidades' is about two women who find themselves in an abstract space, surrounded by dolls. All kinds of dolls: porcelain, rubber, plastic, rag, latex... They don’t know who they are, nor how they got there, nor how they know each other. Their memory is weak. Seeing the dolls will help them to remember and relive the women they were over the course of humanity, until the present day. They were many women, from various periods, cultures and educations. Between them, they have had all the possible relationships two people can have. In all the lives they have lived, they have always been subject to the tyranny of the heteropatriarchy and a maddening system. Even so, they have laid the foundations for subsequent generations and transmitted and perpetuated systems, knowledge, and ways of seeing and understanding the world. Humanity has walked on the path they have prepared. But they don’t remember anything they’ve done, and we’ve forgotten them.
Those dolls that once had a name in the intimacy of our homes, that played various roles within us, that accompanied us and spoke differently depending on the type of doll, ended up naked of all identity in a bin. If anyone sees them, they’ll be able to tell whether they’re Barbies, Sindys, Tiny Tears, Polly Pockets, rag dolls, porcelain dolls... but they won’t remember their names or what they did for us. They are the forgotten, 'Les oblidades'.
